Engineering Team Lead

The Position

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Engineering Team Lead to lead our growing backend and platform development team. In this critical role, you will lead the design and implementation of a complex, cloud-native product that integrates deeply with machine learning and clinical workflows. Working closely with algorithm researchers, data scientists, and clinicians, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the technical infrastructure that powers our next-generation clinical trial platform.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

• Architect and implement scalable, secure, and high-performance cloud-native systems that power our adaptive clinical trial platform.
• Work closely with data scientists, algorithm researchers, and clinicians to integrate machine learning models and causal inference methods into production-grade systems.
• Translate complex algorithmic logic and research prototypes into robust, efficient, and maintainable engineering solutions.
• Lead the design and development of backend services, APIs, databases, and cloud-native infrastructure (AWS-based).
• Ensure engineering excellence through best practices in code quality, testing, CI/CD, observability, and security.

Team Management

• Lead and grow a team of talented engineers
• Mentor team members through code reviews, architecture discussions, and career development.
• Manage team goals, delivery timelines, and engineering roadmap priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Foster a collaborative, results-driven engineering culture.

Strategic Involvement

• Represent engineering in cross-functional planning and leadership discussions.
• Help align technical execution with business and scientific goals.
• Continuously evaluate and adopt new technologies that serve the product and business roadmap.

Required Qualifications

• BSc in Computer Science or related field from a recognized institution.
• 7+ years of experience in backend/server-side development.
• 3+ years of experience in a team lead or engineering management position.
• Strong expertise in Python and backend frameworks.
• Proven experience designing and building APIs and distributed systems.
• Deep familiarity with cloud environments, particularly AWS.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production settings.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a startup or dynamic R&D environment.
• Background in healthtech, life sciences, or data-driven platforms.
• Exposure to or interest in integrating ML/AI into production systems.
